Export-Import Bank Director visits Greenwood to Explore Latest Innovation in Renewable Energy

Ex-Im Bank Pushes Export of Renewable Energy Products During Tour of Pacific Northwest Manufacturer of Clean Renewable Heating Appliances

Bellevue, Wash – September 7, 2011 – Greenwood Clean Energy, a Washington-based, designer and manufacturer of world-class woody-biomass fueled heating appliances, welcomed the most recent board appointee of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Director Sean Mulvaney to their Bellevue headquarters.

Director Mulvaney visited Greenwood in connection with his Pacific Northwest tour of leading manufacturing and cleantech exporters. The newest ranking member of the Ex-Im Bank was introduced to Greenwood’s latest product line, the Frontier Series and learned more about residential biomass energy and U.S. prospect’s abroad.

The Northwest is recognized for its concentration of entrepreneurs and its commitment to renewable energy.  This focus was one of the reasons cited for the Northwest visit – support of the Export-Import Bank’s mission to assist small US companies with export financing of international sales, with special interest in environmentally friendly products.  In fact, Ex-Im Bank has a division focused on renewable energy goods and services with programs tailored to the uniqueness of this industry.

“We are very pleased that Mr. Mulvaney’s visit included Greenwood,” Michael Kuehner, President of Greenwood Clean Energy stated.  “Today, biomass energy is a key component in responding to worldwide energy and climate challenges. By expanding our international markets with the assistance of programs offered by Ex-Im Bank, we will create more jobs and reduce dependence on fossil fuels,” Kuehner continued.

With over 300,000 woody biomass heating appliances sold in Europe every year and the wide-spread presence of government subsidies, the international opportunity for U.S. biomass focused cleantech manufacturers will continue to grow.
