woodburning stove for air-tight house - # 1322
Question:I am designing an airtight, super insulated home and would like to include a woodburning stove. I need a woodburning stove that draws its combustion air from *outside* the house (like a “direct-venting” gas appliance) so that there is no channel between the burning wood and the room air (this is to avoid problems with depressurization, backdraft, and so on). Do you know of any woodburning stoves that have this feature?

Answer:
Many, if not most of the stove made today have provisions for outside air. This is required because of codes concerning Mobile homes…and in some states (like Mn.) codes due to tight construction of homes. Bottom line: You’ll be able to find just what you want.
