Cleanest Stove Made - # 141

Question:

I am interested in the ratings or emissions information on the stoves you carry- specifically the particulate emissions- based on some EPA rating method. Do you have any stoves- probably catalytic stoves- that are rated below 1.0 grams/hour? Please e-mail me your response.

Answer:

No stoves are rated below 1 gram an hour. Also- for your information only- the difference in stoves that pass the EPA spec are very minor. A stove that tests at 3 grams might burn worse and less efficient than one that’s 4 grams..why ? Well- the tests use fir (pine) which are cut in certain lengths and oven dried. No attempt is made to replicate real world burning of hardwood logs. If you tested the same stove over and over the result would vary by 100% or more…as we all know- wood is not an exact science.
