Smoking Fireplace - # 1563
Question:9 year old house has a fireplace which seems to smoke a lot. There is no external clean out door but there is a vent in to floor of the fireplace, which is vented to the outside. Should it be open or closed when we use it?

Probably open…your house may be tightly constructed and the fire might need the air to breathe.
