Burning eucalyptus wood - # 1794
Question:Thank you for the excellent information on woodstoves!!!! But, we are still searching for the definitive answer on whether to purchase a “cat” or “non-cat” stove. Our woodlot is all Eucalyptus and we have been told this wood can clog and damage a catalytic converter…..others have said don’t worry.

No problem with the wood and a cat. In fact, softwoods often have more “fuel” for the cat to burn which makes the cat work even better…..
Cat stoves require a bit more $$ over the years to keep up because of replacement parts, etc…but the reward is longer burn times and the ability to burn at lower rates.
