Pilot light won’t stay lit - # 1870
Question:We recently purchased a home with a ventless gas log fireplace. When I pushed in the dial while set to “pilot” and ignited with the igniter button on the left side of the unit…the pilot ignites but upon releasing the dial on the right, the pilot goes out! We were told this could be due to too much air in the line, we followed instructions but still no luck! Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, could be a few things.
The thermocouple (the probe that the pilot hits) could be bad. This will make it so that it will fail to send the proper electrical signal to the valve to open.
The pilot tube could be dirty. Use a straw or a can of compressed air (make certain the gas is off) to blow it out.
The connection from the thermocouple to the valve could be loose or dirty. You can unscrew this connections, clean the end of the probe (a pencil eraser cleans it well) and then tighten it back up again.
