Using a wood fired boiler without water. - # 1882
Question:I was given a cast iron wood boiler that I want to use in my barn. I probably won’t hook up water to it ‘til next year. I’m wondering if I leave the water input and output open, if it will hurt to burn wood in it with no water circulating through it? Thanx…Bob H.

Answer:
Don’t do it! You’ll ruin the boiler. Get a 55 gallon drum kit of a hardware store tin stove if you need temp heat.
You’ll ruin the seals between the section and maybe even crack the castings.
