Converting Preway fireplace to gas. - # 2143

Question:

Are there any problems associated with converting a working 20 year old Preway prefabricated fireplace (Model BI36C-EM) to gas?  We live in the Washington D.C. area and would have the conversion done by a professional approved by Washington Gas Co

Answer:

I see no problem with converting this working wood fireplace to gas. Main thing is that the fireplace has to meet the size and flue requirements given for your log set or insert.
