Controlling fireplace airflow - # 2215
Question:Hey Webmaster I have a natural woodburning fireplace and the problem I have is too much airflow coming into the fire. I dont know if this has to do with the flue or not. The problem is when I open the glass doors so much air coming in it puts the fire out. I would like to be able to keep the doors open to allow the heat to come into to the house. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Also I enjoy your website.

Answer:
This is usually controlled by partially closing the fireplace flue damper. That should slow the draft down enough.
