Coal stove pipe installation - # 2670
Question:I had someone tell me that the stove pipe crimps must be up for coal stoves, versus down for wood? Does this make any sense?

It does make sense….however, if your joints are installed in the traditional way (crimps down), this is also OK for coal provided that you seal your stove pipe joints correctly with furnace cement.
This sealing should be done anyway, whether burning coal or wood.
