Insulation around triple wall pipe in attic - # 822

Question:

I have a Buck Stove Model 60 free standing gas stove. We installed this stove where we previously had a wood stove. We got tired of the wood cutting so we went to gas. Recently I was installing some additional insulation in the attic and discovered that there was not any insulation around the triple wall pipe. How close can I insulate around the pipe.”

Answer:

Should be at least 2 back. It might be a good idea to build a small frame about it and/or enclose the pipe (at the joist level) so it would keep insulation from shifting or moving to the pipe.
