I have a Twilight-II-B that is installed in a cold climate situation. What I am seeing is mositure is pooling to the point it is shorting out electrical components under the fireplace. The factory is saying they are not seeing this issue and have no assistance here. Does anyone think that installing some insulation in the valve cavity against the outter portion towards the outside of the fireplace would be an issue. Would this cause any issues?

Hi all, have been a long time wood burner, Fisher Insert, and am looking at a Valor Legend G3 Direct Vent Insert 739 ILN on Natural Gas.
I have 1500 sq ft house that I have been heating with the wood stove for many years, and am hoping the gas insets will be up to the task as well.
The dealers don’t seem to recommend a fan for these units, but my experience with wood burning tells me I should have one.
Would appreciate any and all comments on this gas unit and fans.

I have had 4 RC200 remotes installed on my Supreme-I30C. The issue that I seem to be having is the remote works fine until the fan turns on and at this point the control blows. At first I thought it may have been how the blower was wired however I rechecked the wiring and even hooked up a fan out of a unit and still blew the control module for the remote. Has anyone else seen this?

Greetings, I’m hoping someone with a little knowledge of gas appliances can steer me in the right direction. I’ve currently got my hot water heater vented into my chimney and want to get it out so I can run a woodstove through the chimney.

Is it safe to run the exhaust up INSIDE my drywall, through the plate and out the ceiling? Id much rather redo some drywall than run the pipe up the outside of the house.

If its safe how should I insulate? I’m thinking of boxing it in with metal stud and using sprayfoam.

Last question, how far can I run the exhaust horizontally before havving to turn it up through the plate without affecting its function? I really appreciate the help and hopefully once this is done I can get on with installing my damn woodstove.

The stove is normally pretty quiet when it’s burninging but it woke me up the othernight. The flame looked kinda blue and the stove sounded more like a blowtorch sound. I shut it off with the remote and turned it back on and it was fine but it did do that once before. I thought it was maybe running out of gas but the tank is still at 30%. Could it be and impurity in the propane or is the stove dangerous ? I have no idea who even fixes them in CT. I bought it form the Preston Trading Post but they do not service them. I am going to call Jotul tommorow. I am afraid to use it.
Is this normal ?

Hey Everyone,
I am new to the forum and could use some input on my new Hearthstone Sterling DV gas stove.

I have a 2840 Sq Ft home and it is on a slab single story. It is 5 years old and extremely well insulated with 8 in thick walls on a good majority of the home.
The stove is a 38000 btu unit with 12000 btu output on low.

Currently the temperature at night has been 30 degrees and on low the unit is pretty much heating the home. Keeps the main living area 70+ and the rooms are 66-68 degrees.
It hasn’t been cold enough to need to turn it on high and so far we are thrilled with it’s effectiveness.

Since we put it in we have not used the furnace at all.

Here are my questions:
With the thermostat set to 70 - Should I just let it run? We were nervous to leave it on while not at home, like most people probably are….and have so far just set the temp and let it be.

Gas before fees looks to be .29 cents per therm in my area. So it is cheap.

Is it safe to just let it run all the time and don’t bother going up and down with the setting?

Finally the flame on high hits the top of the stove and billows a bit….Looks like it is perfect for high heat but I was not sure if it was safe if the flame is hitting the top like that.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I pulled out a green Radiance to install a Harman P61A in my family room. That was few years ago. My intent was to use it in my basement . I never got around to installing it. Now I want to put my Harman down there and install a woodstove in the family room. The Harman is too noisy. Maybe a Jotul , still learning on best brands. Question is , is there a market for used gas stoves ? I have no idea what it cost new or what its worth now . It was in the house when I bought it . Thanks.
