http://www.centralboiler.com/models.php boiler diagram @ #6 ? evaporation from woodburn or boiler water storage?

It’s a over sized rubber cap with a weight on it to stay put. I’m not sure what it does except cover the pipe running up from the water chamber. If you get some pressure in the chamber, it moves a touch to release it.

My old OWB had one of these too. It was a copper tube, with a rubber ball end, and the tube was filled with concrete. In addition to reducing evaporation, it also resulted in about 3 lbs psi in the system. As water heated and expanded, expansion went into an inner-tube bladder, and at about 3 psi it would vent the system. As water cooled, bladder would return water to boiler.

water comes out when it gets too hot, over 212. Its for the water jacket
