How to post on the Hearth Blog
The Hearth Blog is at: http://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/hearthblog/

(assumes you have an account which allows posting to the blog – contact webmaster@hearth.com in order to apply for blog writing)

Note: You can type directly into the blog entry page, or you can prepare your article in a text program on your computer (notepad, textedit, etc.) and then copy and paste.

Pictures should be prepared for uploading by resizing to less than 600 pixels wide, and saved as jpegs.

OK, so to publish an article, go to your control panel at the following URL:
http://hearth.com/econtent/eeem/index.php

Assuming you are already logged into the Forum, you should be able to see the publish page. From the Publish menu tab on the top right, select Publish/Hearthblog. This will bring up the input screen as per below.

The following is a guide to filling out the fields:

1. Title – enter a title
2. URL – this will automatically follow your title, but you can manually edit it to make a shorter url – this is recommended, since it will be easier for you to link others to it.
3. Summary – A one sentence cute intro would be nice there – sort of a sub headline
4. Body – your article should go there – unless it is really long, in which case you can paste some of the addition text in the Extended box.

That’s pretty much it – URL’s should show up as links, and there is a formatting toolbar which allows you to do other links, bolds, etc.

Images are a little tricky, but easy once you get the hang of it.
a. Prepare the imagine for uploading as you would any pic – less than 600 pixels wide and 72 DPI jpeg.

There are some online utlities that do a good job of resizing your pics – for instance:
http://www.resize2mail.com/

OK, so then click the image upload icon on the upper right of the page (near the submit and update buttons) and follow the prompts for uploading your pic. After pic is uploaded, the same image upload box should be able to place the image code directly into your body or extended field.

You can then move it around manually if desired.
