The installing distributors have a convention in Flordia while their 'installers' are installing 'builders models' for $75/unit in $250,000 homes. The home owner calls me because the fan is loud and there is very little heat. You have it right Willie, install a quality product and stand behind it. Please mail me back. Fran from Marsden   Fran from Marsden, Mantle (or mantel) comes from the Latin word for cloak or cover. So here's my guess: Fireplaces were originally out on the floor in middle of the room. When they were moved to a position in a wall (and chimneys added), there was a gap between the fireplace and the wall to be covered. Probably originally intended to conceal or cover this gap, mantels became an architectural and often elaborate decoration to frame a favorite place in the house. Hope your sister keeps you and others hopping with her curiosity. Ben from Decatur
