(back) Subject: Re: telnet From: "Rod Poplarchick" <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 17:34:18 -0400   Sorry I could not be there last night I had to train @ the fire station   I think the chat is a great idea as long as we can stay on the subject One thing about Java is it is slow to load the first applet and if you have any bug in you browser or windows system it will lock up a lot. if you can telnet net to it I have not log on the chi yet but I use telnet for most thing like Email and stuff like that.   If you are Win95 you don't have to download a program go to YOUR START BUTTON THEN CLICK THE RUN AND TYPE IN " chi.hearth.com " the default windows telnet program will open and log into chat if that don't work just type telnet and the program will open click on connect and choose remote system in the connection window put chi.hearth.com under HOST port should be TELNET and choose the VT100 with the VT in caps not lower case.   with Mac I use NCSA. I tried to show Gary Webster @ the trade show how to telnet to check your mail quickly with out setting up the mail programs in a browser using Pine but the Internet was not working @ the time. if anyone needs help give me mail   Rod Poplarchick [email protected] * http://www.surfus.com Climate Control Systems [email protected] * http://www.surfus.com/ccs
(back) Subject: Telnet and Chat From: Craig Issod <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 17:34:40 -0400   I have fixed some of the problems with the Java Chat..and also added a telnet link at the top of the page for those who cannot load the Java easily. PC users should simply be able to click on this link to log into the chat room. Give it a try if any of you are around this eve. I'll try to be there at 10PM eastern or so.
