Dislikes: This is a show only fireplace. The blower makes alot of noise and moves very little air, heated or otherwise. The unit is built cheaply. Smoke puff back is common, no baffle in front of unit. Best suited for a home where heat is not necessary or wanted. Don't waste electricity on blower.

Comments: Was initially interested in two Fireplace Xtrordinaires to provide heat for my brand new custom built home.(circa 2002) "Dealer" told me I didn't need it, "the HC-42 is just as good".Yeah okay. I am now going to be removing all stone from around unit, unit, and hearth to install 1 Xtrordinaire. The other fp is basically for looks anyway.
A word on the Dealer...PATHETIC. The initial "installer" dropped 2 units outside house in pouring rain, collected check and left. He never turned in check, or returned to "dealer". I guess he picked that day to quit.I had to carry units into house, stop payment on check, and wait. Second "install crew" arrived about 2 weeks later. (holding up construction) and installed units. Both units failed inspection. One chimney was actually resting (yes resting) on wooden header. Neither chase had any(nope not one)firestops, ember strips were "not included". The list goes on. Another 3 weeks and third crew shows up. They saw nothing wrong with install and actually argued with builder about the local building codes and safety issues.Yes there are people out there actually running businesses like that.
I pray things go better this time. Dealing with a knowledgeable, respectable company so other than the expensive lesson, I should be okay.
Looking forward to rating the FPX
