Purchased from: Fireplace Retail Store - Coal Energy Plus :-(
Likes: Auto light system works well, pellets are convenient compared to other solid fuels. I average about 1 bag per day throughout the winter here in central PA. Was able to hookup external thermostat to control the unit. Very straightforward installation, I was able to do it myself.
Dislikes: Pellet pricing is going up and up, when I bought the stove in 2005 pellet pricing was $150 per ton which I used for my cost model to justify the $2000+ pricetag, now in 2006 prices are already $220/ton. Having never used any type of solid fuel stove, I find the fact that you have to clean them a real pain!
Comments: Coal Energy Plus in New Cumberland PA is the absolute worst consumer experience I have ever had for any product. The owner was absolutely no help in answering any questions I had after purchase, did not deliver on several add in that were promised. Was rude and insulting after the purchase and ended up not being able to supply the pellets to me that I had prepurchased in the summer...so had to scramble in late Oct to find pellets to use for the stove. Needless to say, I don't recommend dealing with them.
Breckwell on the otherhand has been great, since my dealer was no help, I've made several calls to their technical service dept, which they've either answered me directly or called me back very quickly. I like the stove, but I'm not saving as much as I anticipated due to the cost of pellets and the usage required to heat my home
