Likes: Had a previous stove that was a Vermont Castings Vigilant and this was replacement to that stove. We had a chimney fire with issues related to the chimney being cracked tiles so I relined the exterior clay tile chimney 8X8 with a 5.5" 316ti flex liner and installed the Mansfield. This stove has exceeded all expectations for me. It is a true 24/7 burner and a joy to watch the fire burn. Glass stays exceptionally clean and longer burn times with medium hard wood ash elm can be had. Before this stove I had to clean the chimeny every 1 1/2 months and when I cleaned the liner from last year I brushed out only a pop bottles worth of fine dust out of the pipe. Our experience has been great witht this stove and I highly recommend it. The stove is a bit large for our home but we also like a very warm house in the winter. Alway kept above 70 degrees. This stove also uses at least a thrid less wood than the Viglant did. When running 24/7 all we do is scoop the ash every two day and push coals to the side and never have to start a fire from cold. Just lay a couple of splits on the coals and off it goes.

Dislikes: Ash pan is a waste in it operation for us. We just scoop it out with a shovel. and keep the coals to the side.
YOu need to know very strong people to get this thing in a house at 550lbs. It is worth the effort though.

Comments: I would strongly recommend a in line dampner with this stove. It gives you even greater control of the burn times and will help the stove heat up faster. Also a probe thermometer is very usefull as well to see how the chimney temp differs from stove temp. It helps to learn the heating curve of the stove which in the long run helps the stove and you be the most effective in operation for heat output.
