Likes: I have a 2 story colonial with a finished basement. The existing masonry fireplace is in the family room at one side of the house. This unit kicks out some serious heat. It does a good job at heating the main level and 2nd floor bedrooms. The optional blower is a must.

Dislikes: I don't care for the variable speed blower control on the line chord. I know that some of the other inserts with standard blowers have temperature actuated fans with controls on the insert or surround panel.

Comments: Insert was actually purchased and installed by dealer in Feb 2008. My wife & I really liked the appearance of the Lopi Declaration and Jotul 550. But we chose the 3100I because of it's efficiency and emission ratings. Installed with optional blower, over-sized trim/surround and mantel deflector. While I miss the look of an open masonry fireplace, I don't miss the smoke, smell and limited heat output. Insert and SS chimney liner were installed by the dealer. Installers were prompt and courteous.
