Likes: Great heat output, clean burning (left with little more than ash), 8 hour burn times easily (tho those last couple hrs get pretty cool), easy to clean and empty, solid construction and easy to maintain, air control simple to use, nice looking unit. Stove glass stays relatively clean with use, but is easy to clean when necessary. Nice deep firebox takes pretty much the longest wood my supplier's ever dumped on me.
Dislikes: I just have the steel unit, so the surface does tend to rust a little when unused in the damp summer months. Just buffs right off and a bit of Stove Black brings it right back to new!
Comments: We burn 3-4 cords of birch and maple a season, so I'd consider this to be a pretty heavily used stove. We've burned small quick fires in the early fall and late spring, and huge honking ones in the worst of winter. The air control makes running this stove dead simple. I've read a few of the other reviews, and noted one that mentioned a "metallic" smell... if you're getting that, it's cause you are overfiring the stove (from my experience). For ANY stove, you should just buy a $20 flue thermometer... as long as I keep the stove burning in the safe range there is NO metallic smell. As an added bonus, you'll know when it's safe to close down (or open back up) the air control and NOT be pumping cresote out your pipe!
