Likes: Great fire view through glass.
Puts out a lot of heat.
Great looking unit.
Hold large load of wood.
Dislikes: Smoke kicks back when you open door unless you have a hot fire. Tough to get ashes out without shutting down.
Comments: Like this insert despite any negatives. Really puts out a lot of heat, looks good in a fireplace, and the fire is as close to a fireplace look as you can get. Cleaning ashes out is tough. They get drafted out into the room instead of up the chimney. An ashbox would be a nice touch. Does smoke easily when you open the door with a cooler fire. I attribute this to the EPA part of the design. It's pretty hard to get a good draft when you have all that afterburner crap blocking access to the chimney. I have to feed it at least once during the night to keep an all night fire. Not usually a problem with my bladder. Really uses little wood in comparison to our old heatilator fireplace. Great to have a warm place to sit on a cold winter night. Glass will smoke up if you let the fire run too cool or put wood too close to the glass. Cleans easily with a rag and glass polish. If that doesn't get it, a razor blade takes it right off.
