Likes: Top loading is great. Will take a 20" piece of wood easily. Low emissions and fairly long burn times, 8 hours with wood (red fir & tamarack). Great cooking surface.

Dislikes: The combustion package/ bypass damper requires a good bed of coals before it will function properly. The combustion package is very fragile and needs to be cleaned often. Fiberglass gaskets fail too soon. The ash pan is difficult to remove and replace.

Comments: This was a great stove for the first heating season. Two months into the second heating season the stove smelled of smoke with the bypass damper closed. After replacing all of the door gaskets the smoke smell was still present. Disassembled the entire stove and found several burned and/or leaking fiberglass gaskets (the stove was never over fired). Cast iron is great for balanced heat out put but there are too many gaskets that can fail. If the combustion package and gasket material were made from a more durable material this would be an outstanding stove. The owner of the stove shop exchanged the Oakwood for another model.
