I was thinking the new forum setup took out the pictures when someone used quotes but see they are still in there. Is there a way you could set up to x them rather than having the same pictures posted over and over?

Using the "Reply, quoting this message" option brings up a text version of the post being quoted. The image attachment tags are clearly identifiable, as the word "ATTACH" in brackets is there before and after every image identifying number. The poster has merely to edit those out of the OP's post, and the images will not be duplicated in the response...only the text will show up as being quoted. Easy peasy. Used to drive me nuts in the old software, and I'm sure it will here, as well. Some folks just won't take the time to learn even the basics. Rick

Tis about what I was talking about. Folks just won't edit when quoting. I recall Craig even posting and asking folks to remove the pictures on quotes but very few do. This is why, and I thought Craig mentioned that the new software would remove the pictures on quotes. Just wondering.

Hmmm....I don't ever remember that feature.......but now that you mention it, I will see if any such thing does exist.

People should always try to edit out stuff (text) which is not relevant to their answer....nothing looks worse to me than 5000 character quotes with the words "Yep, I agree" as the fine addition at the bottom!

When I have quoted posts with pics, the pic comes up as a link or an attachment that must be clicked on to open.

Maybe it depends on what kind of attachment or inclusion....there are three ways a pic can be included - as a thumb, a full size or just attached.....and also, it can be inserted from another site!

Let;s try them right here. chapee.jpg

So the brown stove is a thumb, the conference is a full and the guy in front of the shack is attached...and this is from afar.:

OK, so it looks like only the inserted pic from afar is quoted auto....???

Yes, this problem (feature) only applies to those pics or media inserted from afar.
I supposed we will eventually have a fix for that one too.....

One more post....... (10,000)
