These are the bins filled this year I still have 2 left to fill. Each bin holds 1 full cord ! The first stack on the left got blown sideways by the sheer winds in the storm the other day so we get to re stack it. There are 3 bins on the left but it is hard to tell in my cruddy pic ;em.

So the back yard looks like a jungle now Pete. Great!

Haha no not really it is all behind the garage out of sight for the most part. The wife might have something to say about it otherwise.

Nice job on your firewood Pete, how high did the winds get?
zap

I heard we had gusts around 90mph and sustained 80mph for about 20 minutes from the fire cheif. The town looked like a hurricane hit it from all the down trees. Thankfully nobody was hurt to my knowledge. it took out our 1/4" thick antenna pole and bent it like it was made of cardboard and lifted the neighbors car off the ground a couple of times.

That sounds crazy, our turn in Northern NY is coming, we had what they call a micro burst in 2008 but nothing like that since.

This topic comes up every few years the UP wants to be a state the lower half doesn't want them to be a state. There are some very harsh and strong feelings in Michigan about that topic for sure. It is an interesting read though !

Yes, it comes up from time to time but is all talk. In reality, there would not be enough of a tax base to make it a separate government. So, the talk will continue to come up most years on and on.

Interesting read Zap. Hey Pete and Dennis, we'll trade you Toledo back for the UP! ==c Pete, are those six foot pallets? Good stacking

Thanks Ray ! Up until 3 years ago we had a years worth at a time and called it good but we have been working hard to keep 2 years split and stacked since then ! Now that I have joined the forum I have learned so much from you guys I am using huge bins because of a lack of space. I think by next winter we will have at least 3.5 years worth built up !

Not a chance!!! You can keep Toledo for sure and we love the UP.

Holy cow, I just realized that it has been awhile since I've posted.
Yeah, I heard about the "new" attempt to become the 51st state (again)...but you do know that the U. S. already had a 51st state, right? (Franklin, I believe)

Back on topic; I have been busy with projects and work. As far as the wood goes, I have cut almost 20 full cord of wood this year, so far. I am looking to buy another truckload (10 full cord) within the month of May. I have "broke in" the north-star 37-ton, and am pleased with it's performance so far...still running on the first tank of gas with the Honda 270 cc engine. Almost bought a new saw, but the ol husky 61 is still plugging away. Maybe by summer's end I'll have another!

Nice work Pete. Looks like some nice BTUs.

Thanks gasifier it sure is a good feeling knowing you can heat another year !
