We've often thought about putting up a greenhouse but have yet to do it. Maybe it is time now after experiencing the bad spring we are having.

The speed that your plants grow in the greenhouse is amazing. It's well over twice what we are seeing.

In Alaska, I think the plants know they have to do everything fast.
Short growing season with lots of daylight.

weird but ive found so many annuals this year coming back (that or they re-seeded somehow)... peppers, marigolds, greenbeans and petunias, but now everything has been at a stand still for what seems like over a month now.

My tomatoes bloomed very early this year...not sure if that is good or bad in terms of what they will yield.

It's a "Dave" Green house.
I built it. 2X4s & "suntuff "polycarbonate .

I like your greenhouse, Dave. Nicely sized and sturdily built, it seems from the pic...very functional. Why is it strapped to the ground? Is it just sitting on top, and not fastened to a buried foundation...so those straps keep it from moving around/blowing away? Rick

Well I lost a fancy "store bought" high $$ (Charley's GH from Washington) in a winter wind storm in the late 90s.
So I built one, I made it heavy duty, & strapped it down.
Not near a fancy but has held up through some tough winters & 90 mph winter winds.
It's nailed to the treated 4X6 foundation, on a gravel pad, like the fancy one was, but not taking any chances. Fancy one blew one panel out, wind got inside, well the next spring I picked up the pieces I found within a few hundred yards.
I used the pieces of the sheets that I found to make a compost bin & covers for some soil boxes. The metal framing was bent up. Saved the exhaust fan & control for the home made GH

The one I lost was similar to this one, it didn't handle high winds. Better insulated panels though, Some day may buy twin wall panels & build one that will handle my area. They have some new GH twin wall plastics now, tougher.

my romas are coming out of the greenhouse and going into the ground this weekend
got half of them done today.

All our tomatoes have left the greenhouse a few weeks ago and are in the beds outside now. Well, except for one. We are trying Carmello this year in the greenhouse. This is a big improvement from the last few years in a la nina cycled. I'm hoping it will be a good year. So far the tomatoes looks nice and strong in the outdoor beds.
