Hi all. I've received emails and a couple PM's asking where I am. Well, I arrived back home a bit after midnight Monday. Yesterday was simply a rest day, or as much as possible. Today has been busy but I just had to get back on the forum.

For those who do not know, I was crewing for a 4-man team in Race Across AMerica (RAAM). I left home on 6/7, flying to Baltimore. Picked up a rental motor home north of the city and drove it to Oceanside, CA. That is where the race started and it ended in Annapolis at the City Dock. Monday I returned the RV after driving almost 6,000 miles in it then returned home. I almost did not get home that day because of some screwed up flights but a miracle happened and I got to finally spend the night in my own bed again.

I've sent an email to several folks who were interested in the trip and if anyone else would like a copy of that, please send me (PM) your email address and I'll happily send you a copy. Naturally there is so much I could write about the experience it would take up enough to write a book but I try to give some of the highlights and even some low lights.

It's good to be back again.

Welcome home Dennis. glad your trip went well.

I just realized why you were always sitting while splitting...........
you were in training for this road trip

For sure there was much sitting. Here is what I was sitting in. The second one is with one of the vans.

The racers were from NC, TN, RX and CA. The crew of 14 came from all over the States. I'll try to post a few more pictures soon.

Welcome back! Hope you had a great time, must have been interesting.

Seeing those pictures reminds me of that film RV..........

Nice to see you back Dennis :)

Thanks woodchip. I even met several folks from the UK. We had people from 22 countries!

Welcome home Dennis . . . thanks for sending me the update . . . sorry to hear that this is probably the last race you'll be doing.

Wow
I drove x country several times in my twenties and have always wanted to do it again.

I've driven cross country enough times now so will retire from it. Did the double cross this year and also did a triple in 2010. That takes something out of a guy my age.
