Anyone else having issues using an iPad with this forum?
Pro: It has a spell ck. But be careful, it will select words or punctuate where you don't intend.
It is covienent and can easily go with you in the "reading room"

Con: it doesn't have the edit options displayed in the reply section like it does in a conventional computer.

I'm having a lot of problems. I don't have any smileys, I can't post pics or YouTube files, could be me though !

Yup -- the reply box is just a text box -- no bells and whistles.

The iPad is pretty much the only way I surf here -- it's convenient, and I do more reading than writing on these forums. For someone who knows their stuff/writes a lot, a conventional computer is probably the way to go.

IOS currently does not support the uploading of picture. The next version of it does, though.....

Oh, the current pic uploader is flash-based. Flash does not work on ipads.

We will probably have a special mobile style in place by fall - which may solve some of that stuff.

I've been borrowing a new iPad for a few weeks. The display is nice and the keyboard interaction was better than another tablet I tried, but overall I found it a bit of a pain for reasons like this. I don't like being tethered to the cloud all the time and want a more desktop like experience. I'll be returning it soon. May try a Nexus next.

Some of the other android tablets have slots for SD cards. If I cared about local storage, I'd consider those.....

So far, my posting attempts here have been done this way - when you hit the upload button on android, you can choose Picassa (googles online photo gallery) and then select pics, but it gave me an error when I did that. So I figured out that if you select the pic you want, then hit "edit" in Picassa, and then save it (you don't have to edit it, but you can), it then saves it to the Android file system and allows it to upload.

There is probably an easier way, though......you can, in fact, download whole galleries from Picassa to the Android, in which case they are probably all available for local use or uploading. Either way, I don't think you can easily do this on the ipad or iphone because our upload here is a flash program!

so true, ipad is not really user friendly for this forum. Lots of times it changes a spelling error to another word you were not considering at all. I do like to use the Ipad because it is so fast and is easy to handle. But as said, if it is flash format, forget it. Works well with face book. Storage is not so much an issue as most things that have bulk you do on a lap or desktop. With Ipad, you have the cloud so you have a lot of access to data not kept on the Ipad.

I have figured out how to post YouTube videos. I go to YouTube and find the video, I click email the video, then I copy the link in the email and I can paste that link in my post. I can't do that with pics though.

Hey AP, how did you get that to work?

The spell check can be turned off in general settings. I never use it because it is more annoying than anything else. Other than that I find I use the iPad more than anything else around here because it is so easy to use. To be fair I don't use the cloud on it just sync with my computer once a month or so. Let me tell ya the printing ability for work is priceless on the fly.
