Nothing wrong with breaking in a new toy. I did the same with my stoves but it was around August and not quite as hot. Its nice to get the initial stink off while you can still open windows. Sometimes it takes 5,6 or more fires to get that paint cured.

Congratulations on the new F500 Neumsky.
Reckon you ll be quite warm there?

Thank you so much Angus... I know that I've only had this stove a few days and with 3 burns it now...I'm thinking I'm going to like this stove better than my last one! Don't spose you are having the same drought or high temps like us there in Scotland???

Hi Neumsky, Jotul are the greatest! No, we don't get draughts and it rarely gets above 70 deg f here.
This is the first week since August last year that we haven't needed one of our stoves on, except last
Night, the temp dropped to about 45
We visited the Jotul plant in Norway 2 years ago, they had a great showroom, they welcomed us for a tour.

When I bought my F500, I had three fires in it in the driveway before I brought it in the house. Neighbors thought I was nuts!! It's a great stove, you will not regret it!! I am already having withdrawals of mine sitting all alone in the basement.

Well ColdNH...haha...some people have said that about me. But if I have any warranty issues or if you do...which one of us is going to be ahead of the game? It is funny!

You will still be ahead, I got my stove second hand (two people owned it before me but never got around to installing it) so basically it is brand new stove but with a much lower price. only thing is I don't think the warren-tee is transferable between 3 parties, plus the stove is technically 4-5 years old. I am excited to start burning tho. I may wait till a cold rainy fall day to fire it up tho.

Well I'm thinking it's still like brand new isn't it??? Did that cast iron rust up at all???

That sounds great...and Angus...can't prove that one...but I'm starting to think so! I travel alot as I fly for a living...but have never been there...I and would give up one of my you know whats to get there. Especially after seeing Ewan McGregor in LONG WAY DOWN!!!

It definitely needs to be "broken in" but i doubt I would qualify to be covered under any type of warrentee, but i could be wrong. No rust, it was well taken care of even though it was never used check out the install 20120719_175540 (Custom).jpg :)
