Surprised no talk/chat about the olympics

I know the hype and advertising is monumental, but I still enjoy watching some of the events....just wished they would show other events than gymnastics and swimming all the time.

Saturday and Sunday mornings were a treat as they had both the mens and womens cycling road races on, so those were fun to watch.

Anyone else enjoying the games?

I likes me some lympics. I prefer winter to summer, but beggers can't be choosers. Watched me some ladies V-Ball last night. It's a rough spectator sport.
I like badminton...shuttlecock so fast you can't see it on the tele. table tennis is pretty amusing...standing 35' from the table. I'm very interested in the track event "steeplechase" with the log obsticle and water hazard....what a kooky event. My sister in law holds a few college and state records in the track and field stuff, so its always interesting to get her impressions of the quality of the field. I'm glad there is no more baseball and can't wait for Olypmic Quiddich to take off. Go U.S.A.

Unfortunately, not all but alot of the Americans are so full of themselves, it disgusts me. As with all the kids these days, they too feel they are entitled to everything. And are arrogant as all hell.
Still like watching, and admit love seeing the ones full of themselves both making aholes of themselves and getting fed some humble pie.

Summer doesn't have curling so I have to wait for the Winter games for excitement.

I am not a big fan, but enjoyed watching Phelps shatter the all-time medal record. No, not a big fan of Phelps, nor of competitive swimming, I just thought it was cool that he may hold that record for many years to come....it was also nice to see the lady's get gold in gymnastics. The only reason I was watching was because my wife had control of the remote last night.....

Winter Games have a much higher "you gotta be some kinda crazy to attempt that" value. Curling Rules!...and that aint no joke or exaggeration.
Soon we'll be done with fairly repetative things like swimming and on to archery, skeet, javelin....you know, events with weapons. Isn't Thunderdome the exibition sport this year???

My brother-in-law was an alternate on the '76 weightlifting team. He makes me record the weightlifting for him every year. He has a masters in mathmatics but can't figure out his DVR

Can't watch, no TV. No cable service, etc. so can't watch online. NBC has it clamped down tight.

But, speaking of sports remember when TV actually had something to watch on Saturday's?

there is a swimmer girl from the Neverlands (home of Peter Pan, and the Dutch) who's name is Ranomi Kromowidjojo...pronounced Chrome-O-Wee-Jo-Yo...how awesome is that? Forgot how much fun foreign type names can be.

I not be picking on anyone who participate in weight lifting....even the "ladies".....177kg, thats like 900 lbs right? strong like bull.
(i know, its not 900 lbs, its 389 lbs, but thats just not funny).

We were lucky being this side of the pond, we had the sailing right near our house here in Dorset.

Team USA were very smartly turned out, here is a picture I took of the class 470 boat with Amanda Clark and Sarah Lihan crewing:

One of the iconic moments was when your 4 times Gold Medallist runner Michael Johnson was photographed during the Torch relay at Stonehenge by the media.

I imagine our tourist board was very happy to see this picture beamed round the world:

I really enjoyed talking to so many people from so many countries, all visiting our little corner of the world here in Dorset.

My thoughts are that we did not do the Olympics quite as lavishly as China, but we did put our own brand of humour and charm into the event.

Our volunteer Olympic Ambassadors worked really hard to make everybody feel welcome, and I hope every visitor went home with happy memories!
