That's a nice looking stove I love all the options. My only reservations would be three gaskets to keep up with, but I guess most users would use one door as a primary loading door and that would be the one to take the beating. If I had a stand alone I think I would really like having the side loading feature.

Wish they had given it a different name than the pellet stove. It's confusing to have two such different products with the same name.

What are they using on the firebox interior, firebrick, soapstone, burn plates?

Edit: soapstone lined it appears. Looks like a very nice contender for the big stove market.

The website shows only matte black as a finish, but that's clearly brown enamel. Is it available in enamel yet? Blue black maybe?

I also see that the back is completely finished so that the stove would look fine if place in the middle of a room. Nice touch.

Gotta agree with ya on the handles. I am not too fond of the hokey pattern on the door either. Just personal pref.

Hearthstone needed to add some heft to their handles. I don't mind some added strength but I hope the actual latch part is equally beefy.

A drop down side door? They do that on the big equinox and must have had good results.

They finally cut down on the hearth requirements and now only a non-combustible surface!

This stove has a butt that sticks out beyond the normal stove rear. Sort of a bump out.

The stove has 50 lbs of soapstone "firebrick" and the side doors drop down. They act as ash catchers that dump the ash back into the stove. Nifty idea, but not for corner installations. Overall it looks like a nice stove with lots of mass for good heat retention. Tom are you going to be running one this winter in the shop? I may need to come up and see it burning if you are.

Andirons would get in the way of being able to use the glass to support the fuel load! The typical huge hearthstone front window allows an excellent fireview. Wouldn't want to ruin that with a couple of big iron spikes.

Lots of questions, here's a batch of answers:

The Manchester is indeed lined with soapstone, as already reported by the sharp-eyed BG.

The initial offering is in matte painted or brown porcelain, no blueblack for now.

Hearthstone has had issues in the past with flimsy latches: these are not flimsy.

That thing in the viewing window at bottom center is the "doghouse" that supplies a stream of air aimed directly at the coal bed. Shortens startup time, aids primary combustion, and helps clean up "clinkers" some wood species like to leave behind. The new raised housing helps stop logs from rolling into the front window.

No official announcement as yet, but it looks like the Manchester will replace the Bennington. Don't noise this around, we've got Benningtons to sell.

The Mansfield stays in the lineup, unchanged.

BG, we didn't anticipate the introduction of the Manchester, and have already maxed out our showroom test flues for this coming season (will be checking out the new Hearthstone Tucson DX, Stowe DX, three-sided Bristol and wall-mounted Solas Nua). Howzabout you drop another chimney and pick up a Manchester for side-by-side testing next to the T6?

You could burn the T6 on even days and the Manchester on odd days. Or, fire them both up for that uncrowded sauna experience.

You have to order the door on the side you want it, unless your dealer is on quaaludes. No sane & sober person would volunteer to disassemble a soapstone-lined cast iron stove to swap side panels.
