I bought this p61a last weekend. I couldn't afford a new one and wanted a Harman so my me, my dad and my kids all went on the 3 hr trip to bring our new stove home. It is a 2003 model and was absolutely crusty. I disassembled the entire stove and cleaned, painted or replaced every peice until it was as close to new as I could get. I added the hopper extension as well as the vent cover. Since I have an early model with an old style door I couldnt get any trim kit except gold. I absolutely hate gold trim so I spent a few hours grinding and polishing the original door to what it looks like in the pic. What I ended up with was basically a new 2003 p61a with some modern accents. Total cost 993 bucks including fueling the sequoia. Spent the rest of my budget on 3 tons or Turman. I now have about half the cost of a new p61 invested in this and my boys had a nice cub scout project.

looks great! Im guessing this is just a pic and not an installed pic, as there's no floor protection, and clearances arent followed, right?

Not installed yet I just wanted to get it out of the garage to make room for the pellet delivery yesterday. I have some leftover travertine tile I used in our downstairs bath and stair landing so that is going under the stove. I haven't figured out what pipe I'm going to use yet or if I'm going to stone the wall behind the stove or not. Give me a couple weeks and I'll have it all done.

You got yourself a nice deal and saved $$$. I like doing that and I'm assuming you do also. That stove will keep you warm this winter.

Looks real good! A fun project for the cub scouts too!

Very Nice.... The door looks as of it came that way new.... Good job.

Always good to help a Scout. My Son steps up to Boy Scouts this year from Cub Scouts. We have lots of good times and memories from all the trips and things we have done :)

Stove looks awesome!

Welcome aboard.

Installed pics and burning pics are a must.

Looks great.....keep us informed as it gets installed, and after it gets fired-up for the first time. :)

PS. I'm VERY jealous of the 3 tons of Turmans.

Very nice and a great deal. You will love the Turmans, they burn nice.

You will love the P-61, it is a workhorse and extremely easy to maintain. We love pics:cool:

Great job and nice score on the P61a. You will love it this winter ! !

Nice job! Need pics when installed and running

I'm running a little behind on the install. I just ordered the last of my pellet vent pro piping and my thimble. I saw a sweet deal on a Honda inverter generator so I had to pop on it so it put a 2 week delay on everything with funding that purchase.

Wow. Great job. Looks brand new.....enjoy!

Hello

I am confused.

Did they make p61a back in 2003 with the auto ignitor?

The p61 does not have the auto ignitor.

Im at home, Don, so have to see when they started the P61A. Youre right, though, technically, the P61, no longer produced (for a few years now), DID NOT have an ignitor.

I was told its a 2003 model but I haven't checked serial number on it. It most defiantly has auto ignition controls so maybe they were added at a later date?
