My pellet burner friends often say "why do you bother with all that wood taking up space and the time when you can use pellets". Here is one reason. Our one property got a notice from the township that the standing dead pine tree must be removed or the township will remove it out our expense, darn, free wood.

Even though this has been standing dead for about two years, I was surprised at the amount of sap in this.

One nice thing about being a year ahead and upgrading to the Englander 30, I can split much larger. Figure large pine next year should be great for the long sholder season burns.

Darn...... Free wood :( I hate that.....

But I do love my pellet stoves too :)

Have you pre-burned your 30 yet? I have a feeling your gonna be pretty warm this Winter! LOL

Did have a fire the next week after it was installed in April - then the outside furnace kicked into high gear. Shoulder season should be little more tolerable this year. Cool enough at night for a fire but warm enough during the day to leave the stink out.

The only thing better than free firewood is firewood you get PAID to take! That's why I love my side work of cutting trees......I get paid to heat my house!

You mean that free tree you make mortgage payments on even after you burn it. ;lol

BB, I've got a whole bunch of those.
Ain't nothin' free.

I know. I am still making payments on the trees on this place I burned in 1986. Of course one of the reasons I bought the place was all of the trees to burn.

Interesting, I heard a rumor around here that it is the power companys responsibility to cut anything within 10 feet of the power lines. Could be just a rumor.
