Where should I plug my MM into to get an accurate reading the ends or the middle of the split
 
Middle of fresh split with the grain
 
and the verdict is??????
 
Just to clarify for the hundreds of other readers that may hit this post:
Take one of your larger splits - and resplit. Test the new face of this split with the prongs stuck into the same grain line.
