Truck tank holds 26 gallons and I was driving on fumes.

Filled it completely and it took $100.21

Shoot. At least I don't fill it often. I really only drive about 40 miles a week for work, then with some weekend driving I usually hit about a tank every 5 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I know I'm not alone, especially when people are driving trucks with 35 gallon tanks and whatnot, but this was still my first time over $100.

You're in decent shape with your limited driving, and the fact that you use it for wood stuff.I don't think I ever put that much money in a tank, even with a rented truck (never ran it down that much).

What ticks me off is the people I know that have no real use for a truck other than commuting, and they complain about what they pay for gas.

I almost drive that one way! 38 miles from my driveway to where I park my car--A super sweet 1998 Ford escort zx2.....lol but it gets real close to 30mpg if I baby it.

Sent from my rooted and eclipse running X2--thanks nitro-- if im posting on here I'm probably supposed to be working! I can't help im addicted to HEARTH.COM!

took longer than I thought. Also, thought it would be AP.

I did $115 the other day, truck and 5 gallon can. I threw up a little afterward.

Geez. I guess I won't complain about the $264 I hadda put in the Ultra. Of course that was for 2768 miles of riding & probably 20 - 25 fill-ups, using 93 Octane. $4.459 was the highest price paid, somewhere in Virginny...

I work from home now, so I rarely make the 80 mile round trip commute to the office. I love driving my Silverado, but I'm glad I have the little 4 cylinder cavalier for a run around car.

Filled up the truck & 4 - 5 gallon jugs 2 weeks ago @ $3.83
Pump shut off at $100.
Had to hang up & start over to get everything full.
Regular is $3.92 now.

Been a long time since that 43 gallon tank on the Suburban has been full. !!!

My wife puts $60-70 into her SUV every week and a half or so... and she doesnt even work :( Lots of driving the kids around.

I commute 17 miles and still only fill up every 2 weeks about $40 of hi test. I once looked at the first few fillups log in the owners manual, i spent $15 a tank back then.... wow.

Buying fuel is getting more painful every time I do it...when its costing 20 bucks to just fill up a 5 gallon can its getting bad. Then there is the icing on the cake we get to have 10-15% ethanol put in there to mess up our small equipment and older cars...joy. I wont even go into filling my 500 gallon diesel tank...ouch!

I remember when gas shot 'way' up to $1.35 many years ago. I decided I'm not having it! I grabbed a honda CRX on the local classifieds for $400. Not too much later, picked up a cheap used honda Insight for the wife. I put over 100,000 miles on my car before finally giving it up cause I couldn't stand one more summer with no AC and I kept loosing things through the hole in the rusted floorboard...but I saved that $400 many times over as the price of gas just kept going up. Wife still has the Insight...now I have to hear her 'complain' about filling up once every 6 weeks/650 miles and that costing almost $40 for the 10 gallon tank now!. My only tease back to her is I set up my 'new' car to burn E85. So far, its holding steady at $3.29 vs $3.89 for her gas.

I about crap whenever I fill up and it cost over $40. Then I think about that motor home we sold several years ago and wonder if we'd have to mortgage the house to fill the tank! Same thing when I take a few 5 gallon cans to fill. Wow! I remember when we used to take a 5 gallon can and put a dollar's worth in it. Danged near a full can....

The F250 hasn't had more than 1/2 of a tank in a while.$4.03 is cheap gas here right now.

Taking a friend up on an offer of her 4 cylinder Sebring (circa 1998) with 100,000 miles on it (she takes care of her cars), for a player to be named at a later date. Minimum insurance, tied into the better coverage on the F250, to cover my butt, and away I go. 25 MPG is better than 10, for sure !!!!

I feel for you guys I am grateful the city pays for most of my driving. And they say "you don't need a raise, there is no inflation".

My Husky 339XP gets 42 cuts 8 inches and under on an tank. The 385XP gets 30 cuts at 15 inches or better, you do the math. This sucks!!!!!!!! I try not to think about it, but it's black and white! SOB

When the brother in law was here last year I asked him "Did you ever think you would see the day when you thought about how much it would cost to fill your lawn mower.". Reply "No."

Driving that Suburban back from Texas to Virginia back in 1995 I stopped for gas, running on fumes, one morning. Paid for the gas and on the way out remembered that I had forgotten to get my coffee. I poured a large coffee and walked back up to the cashier. She looked at me and said "43 gallons. Enjoy your coffee sir.".

I have a 26 gallon tank in my ecoboost and I believe the cheapest fill up I've ever had was in Michigan at a little under $100. Here at home I pay between $120-$140 every week and a half to two weeks commuting 55km a day plus running around kids etc.

And since I'm shopping for a new used truck for myself, I'll go ahead and blame those people for driving up the price of trucks.
Glad I have my 38mpg commuter.

I'm thinking the price of trucks is one of the few things that's dropped recently, at least here. I paid 36K for mine brand new last year, would've paid that maybe more 5-6 years ago. People are avoiding them unless they really need them these days. The math was a no brained for me, buy a new van or get a truck that gets roughly the same mileage, can tow 11000 lbs and still comfortably carries me, the wife, two kids and two dogs for a comparable price.

MoFo's at the truck stop where my trucks fill up every other day had a "free coffee and dognut" program (min $200 fill) and dropped it awhile back. They now sell $5-10K less fuel a month.
