Good Afternoon: :)

I have about 100' of 48" wide foil backed high temp insulation rated at 2300 degrees out here at the Farm.

I want to reline my existing Farm House Chimney for a new Wood Insert with a 6 inch opening.

Could you use a good quality 6" single wall black stove pipe to reline the chimney & insulate the stove pipe with the above described insulation?

This idea would be used instead of the usual single wall flex liner.

No, single-wall black pipe is not permitted as a liner. You want a stainless liner. Not sure about the insulation. What is the mfg and brand of the product?

You'll be putting the pipe in an area with very lttile air movement and the possibility of a lot of condensation. Not only is it not permitted, it will not last.

Good Afternoon: ;em

The blanket is Kaowool- obtained from a company out in Oregon. It is 1/2 inch thick and the spec. sheet says it is rated at 2300 degrees. It comes in 24 inch wide times 20 or 25 ft rolls. We poor old dirt farmers weld a lot and use it in several applications. My friend buys it in large quantities since he has a Welding Shop.

All us hillbilly engineers thought they might be a stainless steel 6 inch stove pipe that is rigid, that might work just as the flexible type liners-commonly sold, & a might cheaper.
