My latch on my Oslo doors...particularily front loader...has to be lubed about once a month or more...any other options???

Latch? Lubed?

Hmmm . . . due to it being squeaky or due to it not opening easily? I can't say as though I've had this problem . . . then again I tend to use the side door more. I should also add that when I first got the Oslo I did have to adjust the door latch a bit . . . a very easy 3-minute fix with a common-sized Allen wrench.

I do know the air control lever sometimes needs a bit of graphite to make things slide easier . . . perhaps putting some graphite powder on the latch may help if it is a matter of a squeaky or not smooth opening door.

I'm going to have to adjust mine - the new gaskets seem that touch larger....

Jake, for the front door, do you adjust the door handle assembly or the latch in the firebox? I couldn't find an allen key to fit the handle, and the allen bolt seems hollow and goes all the way through

Funny, this must be catching. I just found my frount door latch so stiff the spring wouldn't move it. Lubeed it with dry lube, which didn't help. The frount never gets used. The side door handel is so loose. I'm going to look at again this weekend. Has anyone taken it apart?

Its not squeaky...just difficult to latch to the closed position. The actual strike bar(on the stove) is a smidgen off kilter...so will adjust that. When I put lube on that...it works so smooth...to the point that you wonder if it will stay locked even tho...it feels like it went into a slight detent. Opening is not the issue. Just closing. When you adjusted it....your referring to swinging that strike bar left or right? BTW...use silicone.

I'm seeing...as it gets dry...that the spring/pin/handle assembly...looks like it moves ever so slightly horizontily as to want to bind. but when I lube the strike bar...it has no issue. So I'm assuming... the spring/pin/handle assembly is not the issue. BTW...like your pun...catching haha.

If you notice...the side door is a different latching mechanism. Better design than the front IMO.

Latch in the firebox.

Inside "strike bar" . . . adjusted way back when within the first month or so of use . . . haven't had to adjust it since then. Then again I generally only open the front door once or twice a week for cleaning purposes.

Thanks Jake. Couldn't see how the handle could be adjusted
