Thought he was going to cut his leg or something!

Stay tuned until Randy (Mastermind) gets the port work done.

He and a couple other builders on AS are saying it is a stronger stock saw than the 460.

Mastermech, there is a thread with a look inside the saw on AS.

We are looking at a tulip round.........Like to see it in some 40+ hardwood.

Once its ported there goes the milage. Keep it stock or get a 460. Too much hype on A.S. and there selling port jobs keep that in mind. ;)

460 is 14.6 lbs with 14.6 kw and the 461 is 15.2 lbs and 4.4 kw..........

I tend to feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good guys there, and good info. They are definitely chainsaw enthusiasts, which is what that forum is about. If I spend much time there, I start feeling like I need to open my wallet up, then I come back to reality.

I would bet that 461 is gonna be a good one, though.

I feel its going to be a re-make of a 441. I would keep the 460 lighter with more power! ;)

I think, unfortunately, that OPE has peaked in terms of power and reliability, in the name of clean air. Along with a lot of other things. In the big picture, it's all good, but I don't know what effect the world's chainsaw fleet has on global warming.

I will stick with my 460 nothing about the 461 makes me want jump. I think Canda the only place selling the 461 right now.

I'm in the old skool camp too. We'll see overtime how the new auto tune, plugged muffler, epa stuff works out & lasts. I'll burn a little extra fuel if my saw is makin power & cuttin fast with tried & true technology. Buy one put a few hundred hours on it & report back would ya please, I really am curious. ==c A C

Glad I keep coming across stuff that makes me want a bigger saw :-(

Is the r stand for racing?

All the EPA stuff, catalytic mufflers etc are to reduce smog ... HC and NOx. But the power reduction causes you to burn more fuel to get the job done thus increasing CO2. Its actually worse for global warming.

Same thing for cars. The first generation of smog controls killed power and MPG.

Or even just 30" Honey Locust,Shagbark or White Oak.

I think you can make most of the newer saws come alive BIG TIME with a simple muffler mod. I've done lots of them, and they work. Granted, they make the saw much louder, but I LIKE LOUDER!!

Old,Heavy & LOUD! Great attributes in my book....Well in saws that is. ;)

You could or just buy a lighter 460 and do the same thing....;)
