Dealer finally got back to me, nice guy and pretty darn knowledgable.
As follows, sugg. retail pricing-

Stove, door, pedestal base- $3,199.00
Airmate- $110.00
Blowers- $359.00
Ash drawer- $150.00
OAK- $80.00

He offered me a min. 15% off those prices right now, and said to wait until June/July, he'd really be able to "wheel and deal".
There ya have it.

Wow. That's kinda spendy. More than BK, BK. Hopefully they'll sell for less.

I think for the performance, it's really, really reasonable.
I also believe several members here should buy and install them, then report back through the season.
Just not me.;lol;lol:rolleyes:

Aren't BKK's north of $4 grand on the east coast?

That being said, $360 for a blower ain't cheep.

The dealers I called have not gotten back to me, yet.

Thats not unreasonable providing it performs well, not sure you would need the blower but I guess it depends on your setup.

If they knocked off 25% from the MSRP, it'd be closer to what I paid for my BKK with all the fix'ins. Just wrong time of year to shop for a new model stove.
The dealer flat-out told me if I was interested, to wait until June/July. He was a bit dismayed about the 8" flue though, he said he has a mile of 8" pipe just gathering dust.

I checked with a dealer the other day, for grins. $3200ish for the king ultra, $2950 for the parlor/classic. That was Toledo, though, not east coast. Same dealer with the Magic Heat.

Wow. I'm going to call the local BK place over here and see what I get for a BKK quote.

I was surpised, too. When I was pricing stoves, I was quoted $3500+ for a Princess Ultra, over $4k for the insert, and almost $4k for a Chinook. That was in Michigan.

What performance is that? The performance listed in the brochure on their web-site or the reported performance from the hundreds of users burning the stove for years upon years. Just sayin'............;lol

I will add this- The things I like about this stove-
Square firebox- 22" N/S-or-E/W is applealing to me.
The cam-latch looks pretty cool for the door closure.
I like the idea of a secondary burn tube, prior to the gas hitting the Cat.
Bigger glass-(more area to clean crap off of)
Lack of interior shields- nothing to crap up.
Extra 110#, that weight equates to a slower heat bleed-off to me.
there are Cons also, but that's what I like so far.

I stated that in jest, so's ya know.:p
It looks good on paper, and the cut-away in the brochure also. We know how marketing goes, though. ;em

This is why we have so many stoves to chose from. To me the 22" n/s or e/w is a deal breaker. I'll never cut my wood that length(longer to season, heavier to handle, not a common length if I ever have to purchase wood) so anything over 18 inches in length useless firebox space in their calculations to me. I was turned away by a couple stoves due to this. If you take a 3 cubic foot stove and take a few inches off the depth it makes a difference.

After burning the BK I also like deeper stoves now, the lack of mess when opening the door is really nice. I don't think I could ever go back to a shallow stove again. The 5100 doesn't look too shallow though, I'd be interested in that measurement.

I figured it might be but posted just in case it wasn't. ;)

According to the local hearth shop, Regency is offering their blower units for free right. Doesn't quite match the 15% off the total price, but if you need one of these 4.42 cu. ft. monsters now...

just picked up a 5100 here in Virginia

got it with blower and ash drawer, was out the door with state tax for just under $3k.

Until the recent bit of < 20 degree weather it had been heating about 4500 sq-ft. Now that the deep cold has come it can't quite keep up.

So far I'm quite happy with it, but it does seem to have quite an apatite for wood. But I suppose, you can't get BTU's without burning wood.

Well Load up east west then load one row of north south if your wood is 18"
or Load up north south then one row east west. I have seen people with NC-30 doing this kind of loads.

Welcome.

4500 sq ft is a lot to ask from any stove. I would expect to feed it a lot of wood.

I think your the first one here that has one. Pics and details, please ;) Maybe start a new thread.

Then do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around! Silly, no reason it should have to be like that.

Personally I won't purchase a stove that isn't filled loading either n/s or e/w with the commonly sold length of wood, in this area it is 16-18 inches. Not everyone cuts their own wood and someday I may not be able to either. If/when that happens I want a full stove by loading n/s, I personally hate loading e/w.

Then there is the Vogelzang Ponderosa 18.5" X 26" deep. For the 18" wood size. But not a hybrid stove. But tested 81% efficient pretty good for a tube stove. Most tube stoves are 78% or less. $999 at Northern Tool right now.

thanks, _long time_ lurker here, finally had something to add to a thread. Learned lots from the forum.

Really I never expected to have it heat the whole place.

I'll post a new thread so we can separate the pricing thread from the using it thread.
