They are cutting trees from power lines right by my house so I scrambled and got three loads in my blazer with the seats down. I think there is white oak, maple , grey birch and silver maple....Probably 1/3 of a cord. Not sure if there is black locust there or not, Lol I don't know my wood very well.... Picture0095.jpgPicture0097.jpg I am resting now there is more....

Sweet. Right by your house.
Lucky score.
Not as small a score as you think, looks to be over 1/3 cord to me.
All good wood too :)

Ya now they are right in front of my house so I will grab anything decent they leave, lot of small stuff out there but it all burns....

If they are hauling any of the wood away, I'd stop and offer that they can dump it at your place. Most of the time they are happy to avoid a long drive and dump local.

The pics are deceiving as I took them with the computer and it was down low so piles look taller.

Very nice...... Grab all you can stuff on your property.

They are chipping smaller stuff and leaving burnable stuff on the side of the road, I had all I could do to lift into my blazer about 6 rounds of heavy 3 or 4 ft. white oak I guess it is.... the rest was smaller.....

Looks like they are only topping in front of my house and chipping, I don't want to get out there right now cause I will be right under the ones in the air.....

excitement will cause many injuries. Put on your hard hat and get out there
Bigger wood about 200 yards up the road I am taking a breather then try to get more good stuff.

Bigger wood than I thought in front of my house....some black wild cherry too.....I'm gonna be tired tonight. :p

Milleo, that does look like more wood than you thought. Good for you getting it too. It will pay great dividends.

thats a nice score, Id show up with some donuts and beverages and see if they would dump more in your yard, save your back for the cutting and splitting.

No one will say no to donuts. Make the beverages the adult type right around quittin' time :)

Those are the best scores, good thing you were around to grab it!

Assuming that they know you are taking the wood . . . depending on where you are in Maine some power lines are leased land while other places are owned outright by the power company . . . in one case the land owner may be a bit irate at losing the wood, in the other case the power company may not be happy . . . or it may turn out that either owner would be happy that someone is getting a bit of use out of the wood. In any case, it's always a good idea to ask if you haven't done so already.

Not the big powerlines just the ones that run along the road, and it was a stretch that ran along the gov. owned property, so no home owners...It's all good around here and I always look around to see if it is near someones house that has signs of them burning wood. If I'm unsure I ask.
