Since they are both older stoves... I figured this is the right forum.

Well plan A, now plan f,g,h,,,z is done and the defiant is now a chunk of heated thermal mass taking up space in the basement of our new house. The sierra 007 is now crankin' out 725 stovetop and 380 stack, 50 and 60 better than the vcd's best for me and I havent got the cats for it yet... just its baffle, yee haaa!!!! Sorry I dont have pics of the install yet maybe tomorrow. God I love boiler plate compared to cast, thats why it came with me. It only took about 30 min to break in the new pipe. My wife and I both think they might use vege. oil now on pipes since it smelled like a hot skillet and not like burning tires , anybody else notice a difference from a few years back? Also it seems to be perfectly happy going straight to 8" with a 6"-8" adapter and a 8x12 cold tile chimney. The only puff I got was Cause I didn't flip the bypass and opened the door right up about 20 minutes in.

YES, WE JUST NOTICED THIS TOO! I purchased all our singlewall at Menards and was prepared for an awful, week long stench/smoke and really, it was no big deal. And yes...it smelled like a hot skillet!!! Too funny.

i need to buy new pipe but been not because of the stench. what's up with this crisco

It will take up to 25 or 26" but I usually cut 'em about 22" that way when I have a good bank of coals in the back I can still add wood without driving them in with my foot or a hatchet. The build up of coals in back can keep it above 250 for about a day or more when it isn't brutally cold outside. If it is ridicuously cold I rake the coals ahead and cram it.

YEAH BUDDY! That is a sweet old war horse! How deep is that stove?
