Anyone tried a supersplitter/DR splitter/speedpro kinetic wood splitter?

Ever tried any of these? I've watched them on youtube, but not sure how they perform with the harder stuff. I believe the speedpro is the fastest.

There have been many threads on these. Most tend to shy away from them. They would work well in straight stuff but what scares me is once that lever is tripped, there is no stopping the ram. Speed can be good for some things but when there is possible danger involved, like losing a finger or two or worse, that speed can be your enemy. Overall, I doubt that in the long run it would not be much faster at all. Also, can you split veritcally? Sure is nice to do when those rounds get heavy, but they show mostly light stuff. As for me, I don't like the lifting so split vertically.

Well, I do know the speedpro makes you use both hands in order to engage the ram. One on handle, and one holding down a button. Not sure if I would like that though. Your right about the finger thing, lol.

I used one to split my load of black birch/maple. It was six cords and cut to 18" to 20". Took my brother and I roughly five and a half hours to split. Took less than a gallon of gas! It had no trouble with less than straight chunks. If it took more than one time, you just push the handle down and send it again. It takes a little to get the hang of it, but felt very safe using a Sup er Split.

I own a SuperSplit, and have yet to come across a log that it has been unable to split. I am able to stop the ram at any time just by pushing down on the ram engagement handle. I find it to be very safe. I've use hydraulic splitters as well, and there is absolutely no comparison. The SuperSplit is much, much faster. When our Church cuts and splits firewood for those in need, I'm always asked to bring my SuperSplit. The only two negative things that I could say about the SuperSplit is that you do have to lift the logs onto the splitting table, which I don't mind at all, and, you really need about 3-4 people to be able to keep up with it. When I split with a group of people, I will usually have 2 people carrying logs to me, and 1 person carrying splits away.
