Some things don't need to be taught, a kid with a pile of leaves will figure out how to have fun is one of them
Move that pile where the wind will blow it to NH in a few days, save bagging or burning.

I admire you guys that have the skill and patience to make those nice looking stacks- my stacks are ugly, but the wood burns
Looks good, CCS. I have fond memories of making leaf "huts" when we were kids, also huge piles of leaves to jump and play in. Your photo brought back those memories......
Call me nuts, but I really miss the smell of burning leaves in the fall. Used to be that way here, but nowadays everything goes to the composting yard. Yes, it's better for the environment, but that smell of leaves burning, that was an autumn scent.

That's what I do with my postage stamp here.Maybe 10% get raked up around the garden or flowerbeds,rest are ground up with the mower.

72 bags last year. With 7 large trees that surround my property, their ain't no "grounding up" here unless you wanna have a foot of chopped leaves laying about.

I was looking forward to making some leaf piles this year for my 8 year old to jump in, came home one day to see the lawn tractor with the sweeper parked in the drive way and the 13 year old walking back from the edge of the field with the pack pac blower. Not a leave in sight. Talk about your mixed emotions.

Dayum, that's a lot of leaves! I usually fill about 25~30 bags depending on how much of my neighbor's leaves blow into my front yard.......

I hate raking leaves. I will burn them if i do rake, but usually run them over with the mower. Yes it is good for the soil. Most nutrients are returned to the ground through the leaves. So if you consistantly remove you leaves you will deplete your soil nutrients unless of course you fertilize, which i dont do as well, but if you care enough to rake leaves im guessing you fertilize. I hate leaves in my boats in the shed and under my carport this time of year is the one thing i do hate!

I ask the neighbor to bring his leaves into my yard. I chop them with the mower then use them on the flowers and shrubs. It makes a great mulch and really build up the soil. I have my own trees so I get my own leaves, but not enough.
Hardwood I have a neighbor near me who literally just throws wood on a pallet square of four 4ft by 8ft pallets. ( Guess where he got em
) The pile gets to be around 8ft tall then gets a big honken huge overly ridicules pool tarp 
. His wood burns just fine and he dries it like that for 2 years. There is no problem with ugly stacks of wood.Pete
Those are all maple, I think we have 3 or 4 varieties in the yard, all sorts of different colors of the same leaf.
You should see my yard now, I think every leaf in the neighborhood just landed in my yard with all the wind from Sandy...
This is what the BIG pile looked like:
I have to give a big +1 to the leaf-mowing method. I live in the woods and simply cannot fathom trying to rake up all the leaves off my lawn. I grind them up and leave most of the grounds where they fall. By spring, they have returned to the earth.
