We got this older tricycle off of craigslist for $10. My son is a John Deere freak. So I decided to give it a face lift. Took the decals off and painted. Her is a before and after. The after picture has the front forks on the wrong way. That has been corrected.

Nice job . . . someone should be pretty excited Christmas morning.

Thanks. It was fun. But now the wife says you should do a few more and sell them.

nice job, run over to the local JD dealer and pick up a few decals............

I looked into that but all I could find were too big.

try a print shop that makes decals...they might be able to whip you up something

i,m betting your gonna see some big smiles on Christmas morning

CTGuy...good idea. Will look into that.

That's dang cute...good job. Heck, just get the kid a John Deere hat (if he doesn't already have a couple). ;lol

Those kind of gifts are the best ones, and will be most remembered by your little guy......Good job Dad!

Definitely . . . I still remember well that one year that my father spent several weeks building a train set/slot car racing track as a gift to my brother and I.

And it works the other way too! My son and daughter one Christmas built me a tool box. They were very young and using a hand saw and hammer and nails was quite a feat. They used what they could find in the garage. It was a box made from 2X 6's, plywood bottom and 1x 4 handle. Then they raided my spray paint and used about 4 cans to paint it silver and blue to match my truck at the time. It was quite the creation! But I carried it, used it, and cherished it for many years.

Nothing runs like a Deere or smells like a John!

Pallet..I started to get those but was gonna be $15 with shipping. That would have put total costs close to what a factory John Deere tricycle would cost. I still have a little while to find something.

This was going to be from "Santa", but I told the wife I wanted to know his daddy made this for him.

AWESOME tricycle! He's a lucky kid.

Please be sure to follow up with photos on Christmas Day.

Cheers!

If you have a Kinko's nearby, try clipping artwork off of the web and take it to them. I had some magnetic decals printed pretty cheaply. Of course this likely violates copyright law, but hey, it's for your kid.

Don't have kinkos around here. Got office depot.

That looks great! Your son's going to love it. Nicely done dad!

Mudbug...it may be the pictures but looks like the handle bars or fork is on backwards...great job on the painting...Have a Merry X-Mas.

Lighting up.... Yeah I was trying to get it back together after a long day and realized the forks were in the wrong direction. Quick and easy fix!
