Car loses Vs. Tractor/trailer every time.

Next to nuke plant Berwick, PA.
My work day Friday consisted of driving a couple hours away, and looking at this tractor which is an obvious total loss. The car, is the car that entered the Interstate on the off ramp, putting the car into oncoming traffic. The car drove for 6 miles in the wrong direction, finally hitting the tractor head on.
The young man died. His female passenger is in the hospital unconscious or in a coma, not sure.
Per the tow shop, the young man's mother told the tow shop, she had spoken to her son a week before, where he informed her he was going to Penn State. The only place he is going now is in the ground.
My money is on toxicology results coming back positive.
Damn shame.

havent seen one that bad in a while , you can't identify the car!! I feel sorry for the family

32 years working in Emergencey Services I have seen this too many times. It really hits you when you have to be the one making the notification to family about their loss. In most cases, it is the simple lapse in judgement that changes everyones life who is involved in the disaster. You certainly have to feel for the families involved.

That is a lot of the reason I do not drive over the road any more to many idiots = three accidents not my fault. The last one a mustang came down a ramp over one hundred miles an hour the guy lived but barely ! What a waste of life !

Lost a very good friend a year ago to 18 wheel rig, it was niether the rig drivers fault nor his but some other idiot that caused the chain of events that claimed his life. Started in the north bound lanes rig came across the median into the south bound lanes, his car looked a lot like the pictures above. He had zero time to react.
 
My buddy is a truck driver and the stories he tells me about near misses . . . once he had a person fail to yield to him as they were merging with the traffic after driving down the on-ramp . . . he said they pulled right out in front of him and were so close that for a split second he couldn't see their small car in front of him as it was obscured by the hood.
 
Hog, a friend of mine drives for a company out of Clearfield. Truck is identical right down to the hood ornament. Just made a call to him and he said it wasn't him. Emailed the pic and he about chit. Only dif in his truck was heighth of the stacks.
I've been driving commercial truck since I was 16 and have had so many close calls it's unreal. I've taken the ditch 3 times to save a life. All I can say to folks in cars/pickups pay attention and signal BEFORE you brake. A turn signal may save your life.

Wow, that is one nasty disaster you can't even tell what type of car it once was.

I was broadsided by a gravel truck who ran a stop sign. Turned out he was a high risk driver. My wife's car was side swiped by a trailer truck in the left lane who moved into the right. He had NO insurance. My car was totaled. Then another trailer truck without a trailer decided to turn right in a 4 lane highway and broadsided me, took out the doors and ripped the rear axil off. Now I away drive the middle lane on that road. Seems a higher power was watching over us as we only got a little banged up. I try to stay ahead or behind trailer trucks. White knuckles when they pass me on the left. I don't think they can see you when they are along side of you.
 
All drivers should have to spend a day riding in a big truck before they get their license. Most drivers have no idea what things look like through the windows or in the mirrors of a big truck.

I know that would educate the car driver, but to be honest any driver is accountable for where his vehicle is on any road. You can't move into a space you can't see. All the same, If a car pulls up along side a truck on the rt side of the truck, say your prayers because unless the truck driver was looking when you were making your move, he won't see you in that lane.
 
Only trucks I've driven that had fairly large blind spots were older stuff... like 1960-70s era. The newer trucks have pretty decent mirrors on them.

This might sound cruel, but if the driver was intoxicated, I have no pity other than him endangering the passenger, the truck driver and anyone else on the road. Want to make stupid decisions, pay the consequences.
