Some folks might remember we had an ongoing issue with the one portion of our glass blacking seemingly no matter what we did last burning season. We are NOT having this issue this year.

Now, there are a few things that happened over the off season so I can't say for certain what the problem was.

This is what has been done/changed:
1) we replaced the door gasket
2) the sweep who came out to sweep the flue and replace the gasket also found the original installers didn't properly level the stove-it is now level (I really never thought to check this) it was out both side to side and front to back
3) last years CSS wood is now what we're using, currently box elder that was CSS in July and August. We were burning bought "seasoned" wood and ecobricks last season.

Could have been one or a combo of the above things, or even an unknown 4th thing contributing to it. all I know is I'm happy to have clean glass finally!!

I'm getting a little darkening on the lower left corner of our Super27 (not enough to complain about). Dollar bill test is okay. But I've noticed that it only really happens when I suspect some of the splits are marginal quality, and/or we turn the stove down a little too early. I'm betting on the wood in your case.

Wood was possible, although we also had the problem with just ecobricks. I think it was more than one thing that caused it personally, but I have no way of proving it. We would have had a whole different set of issues if we tried to test the gasket install/leveling as a cause since it was fairly warm out by that point.

Oh... Glad it's fixed anyway. How far off level was the stove? That's a problem I haven't heard about before?

It was partly outside the lines each way, I don't think it was more than half the bubble but I don't remember exactly. I was rather angry at the time anyway and that was just a detail at that point (the whole install was a mess from go, and I REALLY don't care for the dealer in this case).

You're not alone. (not me, but there are others).
