IMO STINKS now.

So today I got the first ton of 2 I ordered and paid for. Just brought them home and the pics that follow are large size images off my iphone. The first bag is right off the top. The second pic is 1/2 way down the pallet before it came off the truck. I literally lifted up the bags and snapped two pics to show the quality. FWIW these pellets have been moved on the pallet TWICE. Once to load the dealers truck in Upton and again into the back of my van.

So I unwrap them and see LARGE amounts of fines in the sides of the bags. That's when I lifted up the bottom of the top bag and snapped the pix.

I won't be buying any more after this until I see otherwise. I could have bought Spruce Pt and had better pellets than this CRAP.

Doug you should be ashamed of this stuff. After all this baloney they put people through with this Upton plant nonsense I would expect much better and I see better quality in the Infernos or Michigans I had.

Yea for real not just saying that.

Yea they're literally so bad that you can't even see pellets in the bottoms of the bags.

For some reason the link for the pic in the first url isn't working but if you cut and paste it then it works.

pics don't work, redirect to your homepage....

Forwarded these pics to dealer and mr warm. He's not thrilled. Then again neither am I. Dealer says alot of what they are seeing is like this. People haven't complained but it's purely because they don't know any better..

I got to figure out how to sift a whole bag. I'd like to see how many cups of fines come out of these...

Almost looks they are wet too. I sure hope not.

WOW....those are terrible. ;sick Not anything like what we came to expect from this brand, and the former forum members company.....especially at the premium price these seem to command.

Hope there is an explanation, and also hope you get some restitution.

No excuse, But they did do some updates to the process at the bagging plant and were under the gun to get rolling again!. Might be some bugs they need to work out. They were taking the fines from the cars and repelleting them. Mr Warm should take care of you.

If he doesn't let us know so we can beat him up for ya! ==c

IMO, there is NO EXCUSE to be made for them, especially for the price they command, as I stated above.

I'd expect something like this from Infernos, Michigans, or maybe some other lower tier pellet, but not these.

i think someone forgot to repellet them ;lol

I'm sure Mr Warm will email me and explain for you. Just proves it's not as easy as some think to make pellets. Some times they fall apart if the process is not just right. I have seen this from Turmans(why they are in a clear bag) and Hamers to name just a few. Bugs happen to the best of them.

They don't fall apart right away, So they don't see it at the mill. It takes some rattling around in transit for them to show this at times.

Ouch. That definitely sux especially after waiting as long as you did.

Almost looks like they got wet during the rail trip from BC or wherever they come from. I think you'd really have to beat the krap out of dry pellets to get em to break down like that.

Hope you get the issue resolved quickly.

OMV You made me spit coffee :)

Jtakeman I could see if they were transported. I'm one town away from the bagging plant. I can drive there in 7 minutes. The stuff was loaded on a Intl 4700dt flatbed and brought to the dealer literally 1 mile from my house. It was loaded by forklift into my van. Those pics were in the back of the van. I drove straight home. Should they fall apart with this little travel? I think not.

I asked for 10 free tons and was declined. ;lol

But then again was not offered even a free bag or two either not that I'm looking for it. o_O

I paid $290 a ton.

I am ordering a ton of Black Hills or whatever they make in the dakotas tomorrow. Same price supposed to be like 10,000 btu.

Hopefully those don't show up as bad. I'm thinking of not taking the other ton of okies now. Pretty disappointed.

Salty, where did you get these? I'm in Central MA too and the place closest to me is Rogers in Millbury. I saw these pellets there a month ago on display and the quality was total crap, much like the pics you posted. They were on backordered as well. I opted to try the La Cretes which are essentially the same but different name. You should return all those Okies for a refund and try the La Cretes. Or at least on the ton they didn't deliver, have them switch to the La Cretes. You'll be very happy with them. I like them better then the Spruce Pointes. Next on my list is the AWF Super Premium pellets (softwood). Price is pretty good if they perform as claimed. Seriously though, that's way too much shifting of fines for those Okies. What percentage would you guess is not usable in each bag? You're not getting your money's worth!

I tried the Lacrete and found they had alot of fines too. I burned 3 bags. They burned just ok. Not raving but would work if that's all I could get. I want to find out abt these black hills pellets they're touting as the next best thing to the paper bag. I'd switch the other ton to these if I saw some feedback online but googling them doesnt bring up much.

No they should never fall apart(unless they get wet). They are repelleting something that has already been pelleted and its natural binder might already have been used up during the first process. I hear they were using steam just before they processed the dust. Maybe not enough binder? I am only guessing and could be out in left field here. So I'm not trying to make excuses for them. Just trying to figure out WTH happened. There isn't any excuse. Nor is there for any issues from what ever you buy. Chit happens and the deal is how quickly they get you squared up! Sounds like they are swappin your Okies out ASAP. Sorry they didn't offer anything for you struggles, Maybe we can poke Doug into some freebies for ya?

No email from Mr Warm yet, But I bet he isn't very happy with things.

Are all the bags like that?

These came from Royal Fireside in Mendon. Literally we're right around the corner from the bagging plant.

Who is Mr warm?

Now that's a surprise to read that about the Okies, and I then thought that I would order LaCretes only to again read they have a lot of fines also. Both of these pellets are selling for $294 per ton in my neck of the woods.
I finally got the drywall up on the ceiling in my garage to make room, and need to buy pellets. I wasn't looking forward to paying top dollar for pellets and now this

I am surprised to read you would buy the Black Hills pellets considering what the Okies look like.

Where can I get some of these Black Hills? I'm willing to try for 10K btus! Too bad you didn't like the La Cretes. They burned really well in my stove. If you ever take a ride to Robbins in Oxford, try out the North Idaho Energy Pellets. They burned with little to no ash and very little fines in the bags. Very good heat too.

j the entire ton is like this and no mention was made of swapping. They're in my basement I'm burnin them. My stove don't mind the fines unless it gets a chute blockage which is easy to fix.

Smalltown I asked for feedback on the blackhills in another thread on here they were talked about a few months ago. Haven't found much abt them online. Supposed to be hot hot hot.

Dude, They should take those back! My stove would burn them too, But wow, For what your paying thats just not right!

Whats out there now is hotter than what I tried. But I wouldn't get all fuzzy with all them numbers. The big one is moisture free. Corrected or actual moisture content will be lower. I have the lab results on another drive and its at work. I'll post them in the Black Hills thread when I get a chance.
