McCulloch chainsaw, throttle inoperative?

I have a 16 inch, eager beaver, 2.1 chainsaw, and the throttle just stopped working while I was using it, it idles fine but the throttle doesn't do anything.
I haven't dug in, to take it apart or anything yet.
Anyone ever had this problem before, and have an idea what is the problem

Check and see if the throttle cable came off.

IIRC they have a "bump" throttle linkage, that is, there is no hole for the throttle linkage to engage, it just "bumps" an arm on the throttle lever. Quite possible the throttle linkage has just slipped out of position.

Well ! it took me a while but I got er fixed, there is a throttle cable hooked to the throttle lever, and it runs down through the handle and then is hooked to the throttle on the carburetor, but it is actually a wire, not a cable, inside the plastic sheathing, and it simply broke where hooks onto the carburetor.

I went to the wood shop and got some picture hanger wire and used that, I had to attach it to the lever and the carburetor a little differently than you would normally, it is not a spring steel wire like what was in there, but there is a spring on the carburetor and one on the lever so it keeps the wire taught, and it works great.
It was a real trick getting the handle put back together with the spring on the throttle lever trying to push the throttle lever out of position, a little bit of cussing and I got it back together.
When I put it all back together. I only had two screws left over, but I didn't need them anyway,JK

In the meantime, I picked up a little 14 inch craftsman chainsaw from craigslist for 40 bucks, is in great shape and runs like new, it's light weight,and it works really good for cutting up pallets
