Ok ok...Somerset wasn't bought out that I know of, but I bought out all of the Somersets at our Lowes!!!

I couldn't stand everybody else getting my beloved Somersets so I had to get while the getting was good. The Lowes here had 5 ton left at $177/ton so I bought them all. I used a 10% off coupon but paid for delivery for the first time ever so it was a wash. My coupon basically paid for shipping.

I refused 20 bags at delivery for big holes and wet clumps and found 9 more bags that we set aside while stacking them. I'll likely get brown bag Marth as replacements but that's ok. I got 10 bags of Marth mixed in with my shipment anyway to total my 250 bags. No big deal. The driver said he absolutely loves the one hour drive time deliveries and to make sure to demand my balance be delivered since I paid for it. LOL

All said, that brings my Somerset stash up to just over 12.5 tons and I have about a ton of a mix of Indeck and Marth....with over a half ton still owed me. I might be good for awhile.

I already had 3 ton in the garage here and this our garage stash after today's delivery. These are stacked 1.5 ton per pallet....except for the front one that is a bit short.

So how long would it take you to go through all those Somersets?

With my corn stash...I hope I'm sitting on close to a 4yr stash. This will be the first full year with a stove, which was installed to suppliment the biomass furnace. The furnace's first full year was last year so my usage estimates are sketchy. At the time of the furnace install, I got two months of cold weather burning, but I've learned a lot since about how to get more heat out of less fuel.

OMV's not going to be happy there Yogi!!

Seriously though, nice stash. I am jealous.

With the fuel costs yeah it's a no brainer. I was hauling them a half ton at at time in my car, but for a purchase like this and the coupon to boot I figured what the heck. I think the basement is due for a good cleaning so I can try to move some of these down with the 6 tons already down there.

Every bag I throw I think about my last propane fill in 2011. One 30 day period of propane costs us $780 from first week in December 2010 to the first week January 2011. Yeah it was a cold and windy period, but totally characteristic of our winters out here on the hill in the middle of the corn fields of Illinois. We bought the biomass furnace right after that and vowed "never again" on the propane bill. My first fire was lit on January 25, 2011. Since then I've spent $4725 (give or take a buck or two) in corn and pellets and my heat is paid for for hopefully 4 years. I spent $800 in attic insulation with what I saved in the first half season of burning. In the summer of 2011, I spent $800 having the crawlspace walls insulated with 2lb spray foam insulation. These two things made a huge difference for us both heating and cooling.

I've never even heard of them! The only game for pellets here are the big box stores and the farm stores. The couple of hearth stores don't even bother.

I have to get my Game back up. 2 years ago, I was on about 10 ton. I'm SLACKING :)

Hey you got plenty of burnables, it is time to make plenty of brews as a distraction. You could also try to fire that CPM with acorns. That way you'd need to collect acorns as well, then we will be seeing you on Hoarders No Room Left.

They are available here for a premium. I have never tried them. From all the good I've heard about Set's, I don't think hardwood Marths are a fair trade.

Try a couple, I'd like to hear what ya think. The sets are better than the brown bag Marths. Not sure how they will compare to them softies you can get though!

Great pic!!! I can't wait to show the wife, she thinks I am nuts to be on the hunt with over 3 tons sitting in the shed....

I think I have pellet envy!

I've never burned the Marth pellets but based on the forum I'm sure they're not on par with the Somersets. However, it's a limited quantity and for the price it's not a huge deal to me. They'll burn in either of my stoves or in my furnace.

Err, do I tell him the wife is likely correct and he is free fall to the deep dark world of Oinkerdom or just say nothing ;) .

If he's thinking about it, it might be too late!!!

I would be damn proud to be considered a pig!

Lowes came through and replaced a total of 29 bags of damaged pellets....delivered and put in the garage. I ended up with a total of 10 bags of the brown bag Marth pellets. I'll give Lowes some credit. If there is a problem they seem very willing to fix it.
