Post like this make me wonder if it is all a set up just to get a response. Can an Installer be this stupid? Did the stove come with an owners manual? Are pages missing from the manual? Did the stove owner read the manual? I do know the owners manual has diagrams of a proper install. I just sit here and look at all the option for legal issues in this install. Like someone said, you are a very patient man. I know what I would do in this case if this was my installer.

The owner knew his limitations and defered the install to the " experts" which sometimes are far from the experts.

And it is sad to see this is what they get for calling on the "Pro's".

Truly is sad.. :( I am not the person to take legal action... But, this person really did put you in a Scary situation. !!!

If this stove was my primary heat source I'd be all over them to fix it ASAP. However, it's just a secondary heat source for my newly finished basement addition. I lived without it for several years already so I can deal for a week. Doesn't make me any less annoyed, though.

Part of the problem is that here in Des Moines, IA I could only find 1 actual dealer that sold pellet stoves (not counting Menards). We have very few fireplace dealers around town and most deal in traditional wood stoves exclusively. My stove was actually their display model and was the last one they had. It didn't come with a manual or install instructions but St Croix sent me those through the mail for free after the install. If I had the install instructions or manual at the time they were installing it I wouldn't have let them leave when they did. Although I'm sure someone will give me crap for not looking at the manual online. ;)

I'm sure part of the issue is that these guys don't install too many pellet stoves and they were running out of time in the day because drilling through my foundation took them the better part of a day and broke one of their drills. I'm sure they were ready to GTFO at that point. It's still no excuse and that's why they are coming back.

I'm trying to walk a fine line of not being a gigantic ass and pissing off the only pellet stove dealer in town and being demanding enough to get what I want.

I really wish I had other options for a stove dealer. Pellets don't seem too popular around here - I can only find 3 places that even sell the pellet fuel. And 2 of them sell the same stuff. LOL

How is the fresh air pulling air in to the house. If its any where near the exhaust termination you could be pulling the exhaust back inside. I see how its hooked up on the inside but cant tell on the outside.
